The Making

Wee Seedling brand clothing is sewn in Boston, Massachusetts. Danielle works directly, in person, at the factory, with their founder and production manager from early collection planning, all the way through production.

Wee Seedling Fabric Sourcing

General

All of our fabric is carefully selected to protect people and the environment.

Cluck Crumpet Collection

Is made with organic Peruvian pima cotton. Wee chose pima cotton from Peru because there are no GMO's, their specific supply chain is fair trade with wages far above minimum, and they are certified organic. Pima cotton is also known for its softness and extra durability, due to its longer fiber. This fabric also has a smaller carbon footprint than many other fabrics because the cotton growing, harvesting, spinning, knitting and finishing are all done within close proximity to one another.

Fabric Dyeing

Cluck Crumpet collection was dyed in the USA, using certified low impact dyes. The facility meets all city and state requirements of legal employment, safety and operations. In addition, they are highly certified to meet ecological, social and environmental requirements.

Bits and Bobs

Snaps

We have chosen YKK as our snap supplier for the Cluck Crumpet Collection. You can read about their transparency here

Thread

We use polyester and nylon thread. This is the only thread that is recommended for use in the industry due to its strength and stretch. Our options are rather limited, but when possible, we use Gutermann thread. You can read their sustainability report here

Twill Tape

You'll find our organic undyed twill tape being used to help support snaps in some of our garments. When smart to do so, we also use leftover scraps to support our snaps when needed.

Garment Tags

Wee chose a mom-owned, small-family tag company in the USA for our Cluck Crumpet Collection. They are undyed 100% cotton.

Child Product Safety

All of our finished garments are certified and registered with the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) to ensure that they are safe for your littles.

Carbon Footprint

The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions. It is our responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and to off-set the carbon emissions we do use.

For Wee Seedling, right now, this means a few things:

  • Sourcing fabric with a smaller footprint
  • Always properly recycling or reusing scrap fabric
  • Using more eco-friendly shipping materials and office supplies
  • Encouraging our customers to reuse or re-sell their gently worn Wee Seedling clothing
  • Combine shipping, when we can, for customers who have several orders in-cue at one time
  • Helping customers repair heavily used clothing
  • Designing clothing that grows with children for longer-wear and use
  • Encouraging customers to hang-dry their clothing

In the future, wee hope to:

  • Become a part of a carbon offset program and hopefully become certified by an environmental sustainability program
  • Create custom fabric that allows us to partially control the carbon emissions used in the process of making our fabric
